What’s it’s purpose?
We built VibeMD for a couple of reasons.
First, we’re big fans of Markdown for all our note taking and it is pervasively used in software engineering and many of the tools businesses use today for collaboration and knowledge management, but it also has great promise for use in so many other areas. Some of our team are big fans of Upnote (www.getupnote.com) for storing all our docs. Upnote supports Markdown import and export.
The second reason we built it was to test the promise of ‘vibe’ coding - Using AI tools without one of us writing a line of code. VibeMD proves it is possible, albeit probably with more time and effort than would be required if we had been more hands-on with the engineering. You may have guessed that’s where the name comes from - ‘Vibe’ coded ‘MD’ markdown editor.
